Excellance, Integrity, Determination and Enjoyment. Otago University Rugby Football Club (OURFC) stands apart in New Zealand rugby. Founded in 1884, we are the country’s most successful rugby club and the club that has produced more All Blacks than any other. Our standard has always been clear: excellence on the field and integrity off it.

Across the history of the Premier Rugby competition, OURFC has claimed the title 54 times more than double any other club. At our core, OURFC is a student club. We proudly balance academic commitment, high-performance rugby, and a strong social culture. As the only rugby club in Dunedin affiliated with the Otago University Students’ Association, students play an active role in decision-making and the day-to-day running of the club developing leadership as well as rugby ability.

While our roots are firmly student-based, we are open to all players, whether you are studying or not. What unites everyone who pulls on the jersey is a shared commitment to growth, accountability, and team-first values.

OURFC also provides a unique pathway beyond club rugby. We are the only Dunedin club whose players are eligible for selection in the New Zealand Universities (NZU) team, competing against touring sides, representing New Zealand overseas, and featuring in international university tournaments such as the World University Rugby Cup.
